Travel, Housing, Rehearsal Space

To locate other B.O.S. participants for rideshares, or to find participants for your work etc, go to facebook, and join the group Built on Stilts Dance Festival.

Unfortunately, Built on Stilts does not provide housing. Accommodations are up to you and must be arranged well in advance. Please do not register for the festival until you know you have a place to stay. There is a youth hostel and a campground but they fill up fast. If you are driving to the island, be aware that the week of the festival is one of the busiest of the season and parking is tough. Car reservations for the ferry must be made months in advance.

Rehearsal space on the island is difficult to come by. The island's many public parks can be great for rehearsing. Just be sure to bring water, insect repellent, sunscreen, and a boombox with batteries and always respect your neighbors and clean up after yourselves!

Rehearsal space ideas:
The Mansion House in Vineyard Haven (508)693-2200.
The DoJo at DECA Design (Jim Glavin) 508-693-3322.
The Workout at The Vineyard Tennis Center 508-696-8000.
Sally Cohn's studio in Edgartown
Spindrift studio in Edgartown: 508-939-1157

Please show your support!

All support for Built on Stilts is greatly appreciated. Show us how much you value the event by being as generous as possible at our festival donation boxes. Anyone requesting proof of a financial donation for deduction purposes should contact Abby Bender for details before issuing any check as a contribution.

B.O.S. is in dire need of free or discounted housing for visiting artists. Any hotels or homeowners willing to house a few dancers for a few nights can make their participation possible. We also need photographers and videographers to assist with documenting the event, assistance with ushering at the shows and free or discounted printing. Please email Abby at if you can help.
